Presentation | Giclée print description | Quality and authenticity | How to order
Harold Gregor is offering a limited-edition of five images of his artwork as signed Giclée prints. These high-quality prints on watercolor paper will be created in editions of 25 prints.
Each giclée print is approximately 13 inches x 19 inches and is carefully wrapped in glassine and protected by a sturdy container for mailing. For the framed edition, the print is mounted on a foam core base, then matted using archivally sound museum mat board in off-white, then placed in a fine birch wood frame with Lucite glass. The final product has outside dismensions of approximately 18 1/2 inches x 23 inches. Either format can be mailed.
A Giclée print is a digitally produced, fine art reproduction of an artist's work.
Using a computer, the technician downloads a photograph of an artist's image, then makes color refinements to assure accuracy of duplication. The final adjustments are made in reference to the original work of art.
The printer, equipped with high-grade archivally sound watercolor paper, sprays a spectrum of dye-based pigmented inks into the fibers of the paper. This high-resolution ink jet printing process produces an image of great permanence.
The French word Giclée (jee-clay) loosely translates as spraying, splashing or spurting, and was originally coined as an alternative term for digitally produced fine art prints made using the IRIS brand of ink jet printer. The creators of the term were looking for a word that was not brand oriented, like IRIS.
Giclée prints that are of remarkable quality and detail require professional-level printing equipment, techniques, and materials. The Harold Gregor Giclée prints are produced using only these superior resources. For authenticity, the artist signs each Giclée print.
To insure the value of the print, editions of only 25 are made of each original artwork. A signed provenance comes with each print, stating the title, year, size, and medium of the original work of art.
